Karen Koenemann
Karen teaches grades 6-12 at Spring Street School in Friday Harbor, WA. This summer she worked in the lab of Dr. Nephi Stella investigating the effects of cannabinoids on astrocytmoma cell lines.

Dana Levine
Dana teaches middle school science at Summit K-12 in the Seattle School District. She worked with Dr. Jeanette Norris and Tatiana Masters on analyzing focus group data that will be used in investigating the relationship between alcohol consumption and alcohol expectancy and a women’s condom negotiation and decision to have unprotected sex.

Kevin Stilwell
Kevin Stilwell teaches at Honaker High School in Virginia. He worked in the UW lab of Kenneth Thummel. His research focused on the role of human UGT enzymes in the metabolism of hydromorphone, an opioid analgesic.

Rachael Tarshes
Rachael Tarshes is a student in the Teacher Education Program at the UW. In fall of 2004 she was a student teacher at College Place Middle School in the Edmonds School District. She worked with Roger Roffman and Denise Walker in the UW's Innovative Programs Research Group working on the third trial of a teen marijuana check-up.
Project Description.
Lowell Thomson
Lowell Thomson teaches science and math at the Experience Academy at Foster High School in Tukwila, WA. He spent the summer in Debbie Nickerson's lab doing two projects: sequencing the gene for Fatty Acid Amide Hydrolase, which binds to the cannabinoid receptor, and helping to develop a reverse dot blot assay for use in a future StarNet project.
