Meet the teachers and learn about their research projects at the University of Washington.

Mary Glodowski
Mary is a teacher at Juanita High School in Redmond, Washington. She spent the summer studying the role of cytochrome P450 enzymes in drug metabolism while working in the lab of Dr. Ken Thummel in the UW's Department of Pharmaceutics. Project description.
Jed Doyle
Jed teaches biology at Mundelein High School in Illinois. While working in the lab of Dr. Debbie Nickerson of the UW Department of Genome Sciences, Jed researched DNA sequence polymorphisms in a human gene affecting taste preferences. Project description.
Bill Monahan
Bill is a teacher at Eastlake High in Sammamish, WA. Bill worked with Dr. Ken Mackie of the UW Department of Anesthesiology on cell receptors for cannabinoids, the active ingredient of Cannabis. Project description.
Ron Pearson
Ron teaches science at Voyager Middle School in Everett, WA. Ron worked with Dr. Roger Roffman of the UW School of Social Work on "The Teen Marijuana Check-Up" a motivational enhancement approach to dealing with teen users of marijuana. Project description.
