Welcome to the High School Human Genome Program web resource. Our one week summer workshop provides high school teachers with professional development in the fields of genomics, epidemiology, and bioethics. Participating teachers receive the necessary training to participate in an authentic research project investigating the effects of genes and environment on smoking behavior. Teachers may borrow the supplies and equipment needed to genotype candidate nicotine addiction genes in their classrooms.

This site is currently in transition from our previous DNA sequencing project to our new research investigation on the genetic and environmental influences on smoking behavior. It is mainly intended as a resource for the teachers and students currently participating in the program, providing them with the most current versions of our teaching modules and student activities.
